Image result for water in africa typography

Why?
  • This example of typography spoke to me. The minimalist design was powerful in reinforcing and illustrating the simple message that the words actually meant.

Context?
  • This piece was created by Candy Chang - an artist/activist. This piece brings attention to the lack of clean water in Africa.

Communication Objective?
  • Message - There is a lack of clean water in Africa. Directs viewers to a website with more information on how to help.
  • Artist - Candy Chang - amref.org
  • Audience - American Donors

Typography & The Message
  • Only half of the word “water” is shown, reinforcing the idea that only half of people in Africa have access to clean water. This was a unique decision that went against normal practice.
  • The font is simple, but the way the words are arranged imitates water dripping - a powerful arrangement.
  • I see no issues with the typographic craft.
